I get high with a little help from my friends.
As many of y'all know, I rep for a camp out here in daygo called, MAG FLUX. I've been rockin' stages with these cats for a few years now. an right now, they are on a tear of just droppin singles left and right. practically weekly. if you've missed some, here they are.
Fresh off the presses, another remix that'll make 'em go GAGA... "Make Her Say (Mag Flux Remix)" with Acromic, M.Y.O, and Mr.Oda.
"Make Her Say" (Mag Flux Remix)
Together, Acromic and M.Y.O., are A.M. This song, "Swagger Street", has been on top of the San Diego Reader's download list for over a month now.

but i did 5 mics...
I remember when I was a young tyke and I used to spend extra money on Hip-Hop rags. The coveted holy grail was The Source and their rating system. Before my distrust of critics and people who get paid to review things, I put all my faith and trust in the 5 mic review system they had. I even went on to try and cop all the 5 mic albums before they started giving them out like candy (look towards the bottom of that list). Some of those praised albums still get rotation in my deck today... (aquemini, blueprint, low end theory). They even RE-REVIEWED some albums that WEREN'T 5 mics before (some of those 4.5 mic albums are better than those 5s). Cue Miss Info...
I was first intro'd to Miss Info on one of those VH1 list shows. Many of y'all know my penchant for funny girls, asian girls, and hip hop girls. She was all THREE. Insta-celeb-crush. Then I did more digging. She was also a writer for practically all of the major hip hop publications. This morning, I learned she was one of the people who dubbed Nas' "Illmatic" with that dubious 5 mic honor. The following video is her describing it. Why she gave Nas the 5 mics though isn't why I posted this video... it's what she says towards the end of the video about how hip-hop now has many hands in it. To think that she received "Illmatic" as a handwritten preview tape shows it was REALLY about the music back then.
With the release of Raekwon's "Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II" (who's original copped 4.5 mics)... I'm hoping that there will be a resurgence of real hip hop.
then again, no one is buying it... so the marketers won't cater. ahh.. then endless cycle.

it's been a long time... i shouldn't have left you.
It's amazing how much can happen in one year. The last time I posted in this was over four years ago. So one can imagine how much has happened. But I'm not about to recap what has gone down in the past four years. You've got Google if you want to do that. I'm just going to talk about there here and now, and whatever is going on at the time of the posting. It could be about a music that I'm feeling that may need more shine (cop Tanya Morgan's "Brooklynati"...). Maybe it'll be about movies that I've just seen ("Inglorious Basterds" may be Tarantino's best work since Pulp Fiction). It could be about pop culture, (I'm not even going to address Kanye's Joe Wilson move at the VMAs... wait, I just did). Or it could be something as simple as something I've seen online that y'all need to peep.
What I'm NOT going to do is get uber personal on this blog. I've got a other outlets for that. Just consider this another part of the pieces of me...
and when the cookie crumbles... the crumbles are still delicious, so take what you can.
With that said... let the blog-barrage begin.
